How to Track Stock in Excel

A free Excel inventory template is a count of what is on the shelf. Harbor Goods stocks twenty everyday products in the sample. You type the item, how many you have, the reorder point, and the unit cost. The sheet calculates stock value and marks a row Reorder when the count is at or below that point.

Free Excel inventory template

The free Excel inventory template is one workbook, not a warehouse system. Ballpoint pens and notebooks A5 are enough of a name if that is what you would say to a clerk. Use the same name every time you count.

Unit cost is what you paid, not the shelf price. Stock value is quantity times that cost. When a row says Reorder, that is the cue to open a free purchase order template, not to change the formula.

Sheets and a new row

Google Sheets opens the same file. Add a product inside the list and extend the totals so the new row is included. A row typed under the total is invisible to the formula.

  1. Download the free Excel inventory template.
  2. Type the item, the count, the reorder point, and the unit cost.
  3. Read Reorder before you buy more.
  4. Keep one count date in the file name so last month stays last month.
  • Typing the shelf price in the cost cell.
  • Leaving a blank where you meant zero.
  • Using the inventory sheet as a customer invoice.
