Marketing guide
A company strategy example does not need a slide deck. Harbor Goods wrote a customer, an offer, and a promise, then three strategic plans and three channels. The marketing plan template calculated the gaps. This article walks through that sheet so the marketing strategy is a set of cells you can point at.
The sample period is April 2026. Amounts are in dollars. Keep one period in each copy of the file.
The marketing strategy is three pale cells at the top: customer, offer, and promise. Harbor Goods serves neighborhood shoppers, offers same-week local delivery, and promises that an order placed by noon goes out this week. That choice is the strategic strategy. Marketing strategies in marketing are often given longer names. If those three cells are blank, the ads below them are a cost without an offer.
Download the marketing strategy template before you buy another flyer. Pale cells are yours. Green cells are the differences and the channel total.
Strategic plans are the numbers you said you would hit. Each row has a target, an actual, and a difference. Difference is actual minus target. Harbor Goods planned 40 new online orders and finished at 28, so that row is 12 short. Past buyers emailed were planned at 200 and finished at 160. The window board was planned once and done once.
A negative difference is the plan talking. Do not type the actual into the target column at the end of the month to make the gap disappear. The target is the number you set first.
Marketing and planning on this sheet is the channel block. Strategic marketing strategies here are three rows: the shop window, local ads, and flyers. Each has a budget and an amount spent. The window was planned at $80 and cost $45. Local ads were planned at $150 and cost $120. Flyers were planned at $60 and cost $75, which is $15 over that row. Spent in total is $240 against $290 planned.
Planning and strategic planning is the order of the blocks. Write the marketing strategy first. Then set strategic plans. Then put money on channels. Then name the person who will do the work. Strategic planning strategies that do not fit a row do not belong on this sheet.
Strategy in business can be this short for a shop. A corporate plan and a corporate level strategy describe the same kind of choice for a larger firm: who you serve, and what you will spend to reach them. Corporate strategic language can stay off the workbook. Firm level strategy, for Harbor Goods, is the delivery promise. You do not need a second document to say that.
This company strategy example is one shop, not a group of companies. Business diversification strategy, in the sample, is the online-order row next to walk-in shoppers. A second offer is optional. If you do not want one, delete that plan row. Names and the next conversation belong on the CRM template, not in the promise cell.
Operation strategy is how the shop reaches people this month: the window, the ad, and the flyer. Project management strategy is the action list under those channels. Amina refreshes the window board. Luis emails past buyers. Priya prints 40 flyers. Each row has an owner, a date, and a status. When that list grows, move it to the task tracker. This sheet keeps only the actions that serve the plans above.
Open the marketing plan template and replace the Harbor Goods rows. The other guides are on the blog.

A corporate plan is the same idea for a larger firm. A shop can keep the strategy in business on one sheet.
