Free balance sheet template Excel

The free balance sheet template Excel file adds each group, then checks that assets equal liabilities plus equity. You type the yellow amounts. Total assets, total liabilities, total equity, and the check are green.

Sales tax collected is money in the bank that is not yours. Inventory is what you paid, not the shelf tag. Retained earnings is a number you bring from your books. The sheet does not pull it from the free profit and loss template.

One date, not the whole month

Profit for March belongs on the profit and loss template. This page is only the snapshot. If the check is not zero, a number is missing or it was typed in the wrong group.

  1. Pick one date and download the free balance sheet template.
  2. Type assets, then debts, then equity.
  3. Read the check row. It should be zero.
  4. Do not type over the totals.
  • Using the shelf price for inventory.
  • Typing the original loan instead of what is still owed.
  • Expecting this file to match the profit and loss by itself.
